Background
Tego, Inc. is a digital transformation solution provider for industrial organizations. Through a highly consultative approach and the integration of its award-winning platform, Tego provides a real-time, unified view of operational data to stabilize performance, modernize asset tracking and control costs.
Metalcraft, a trusted manufacturer of rugged RFID tags, has built its reputation on delivering customized, long-lasting identification products for a wide range of industries.
When one of Tego’s customers needed a robust RFID tagging solution to ensure reliable access to asset information across various field environments, Tego’s Director of Project Management, Leslie Caesar reached out to Metalcraft to collaborate on a solution.
Challenge
The customer was in the aerospace industry and managed high-value assets, including specialized tools used to transport jet engine components around the facility. These tools cost between $40,000 and $100,000 each and they were frequently misplaced or lost during routine operations.
These tools were mission-critical and their loss or unavailability could cause costly delays in the production and maintenance cycle. What the customer needed was a way to uniquely identify each tool, track its type, lifecycle stage and maintenance history while ensuring that this information was always accessible.
Solution
Caesar and his team began by evaluating the customer’s specific pain points – from tool misplacement to the need for lifecycle and maintenance tracking. Working closely with Jack Ward, a Territory Specialist at Metalcraft and John Fitzsimmons, Metalcraft’s Business Development Representative, they developed a tailored solution that incorporated rugged RFID tags to enhance both asset visibility and maintenance history.
The decision to partner with Metalcraft for the tag component was straightforward, according to Caesar, “We utilized Metalcraft tags one, because of the ruggedness and two, because of their ease of use in the sense that it works well with the variety of tools that need to be tracked.”
To complement the asset’s tag data, the hardware and software within the TegoHub platform reports real-time location services and traces workflow processes throughout the facility. Identifying, finding and maintaining each unique tool became faster and more reliable – a significant win for the team.
“With Metalcraft’s RFID tags and Tego’s integrated platform, we help identify the location and history of these tools within the facility,” Caesar explained.
Result
The customer ultimately gained a reliable asset tracking system that held up in demanding conditions while significantly improving asset management. With greater traceability and access to critical tool information, asset loss was minimized and field teams were able to operate with increased efficiency and confidence.
This project showcased the power of a collaborative, solution-driven partnership. By combining technical expertise with a shared commitment to the customer’s success, Tego and Metalcraft delivered a customized asset tracking solution that created a lasting operational impact.
