JO Safety required a reliable method for identifying spare parts installed on wind turbines. Each part needed to be easily tracked through a GTIN barcode that links directly to the ERP system, enabling quick and accurate part ordering. The primary challenge was durability – labels had to withstand harsh offshore environments including moisture, salt and extreme temperature shifts, without degrading or losing readability over time.
Solution
Metalcraft’s best-selling Foil Barcode Labels were selected as the ideal fit. These labels are specifically designed for durability in rugged, outdoor conditions. The barcode and text are photographically reproduced on photosensitive aluminum and sealed beneath the anodic layer, offering exceptional resistance to abrasion, UV light and weathering. This construction ensures the barcode remains scannable and intact even when exposed to the intense conditions found on offshore turbines.
