That's a Wrap (That Actually Lasts) Durable Labels for 4Wall

Background

In live event production, equipment is pushed to the limit – and so are the labels used to track it. For 4Wall Entertainment, failing labels led to constant relabeling, wasted time and rising operational costs.

As a full-service production company providing equipment rentals, sales and installation for live events, theater, corporate productions, film and television, 4Wall relies on equipment that is constantly moving between venues and exposed to demanding conditions. In this environment, clear and durable asset identification isn’t just helpful – it’s essential.

Challenge

4Wall previously relied on standard barcode labels that required heat shrink or tape to stay in place on cables and equipment. These labels frequently failed due to harsh environments and heavy use.

Labels would crack, peel or become unreadable after exposure to heat, weather and handling. Most lasted only one to two years, creating ongoing maintenance challenges.

“We would have to replace them constantly… the repetition of that was a lot to put on our warehouses,” said Lenin Cruz, Integration Manager at 4Wall Entertainment.

The company needed a more durable solution that could handle extreme conditions while reducing labor and replacement costs.

Solution

After being introduced to Metalcraft through an acquisition, 4Wall tested and implemented a combination of Metalcraft Barcode Cable Labels and Premium Polyester Barcode Labels to meet the demands of their diverse equipment.

Metalcraft’s Barcode Cable Labels feature a self-laminating design with an adhesive “tail” that wraps around the label, sealing and protecting the barcode and printed information from abrasion, moisture and wear. This eliminated the need for heat shrink while providing a secure, long-lasting solution for cables.

For equipment such as road cases and other assets, 4Wall utilized Premium Polyester Barcode Labels, known for their durability, strong adhesion and resistance to harsh environments.

To validate performance, 4Wall tested the labels under extreme heat conditions. Even after direct exposure, the labels remained readable and scannable, confirming their durability in real-world environments.

Result

Metalcraft labels delivered measurable improvements across operations:

  • Reduced labor: Eliminated time spent applying heat shrink and replacing failed labels
  • Longer lifespan: Labels now last 4+ years compared to 1-2 years previously
  • Improved durability: Withstand heat, mud, snow and constant handling
  • Greater efficiency: Less frequent relabeling and smoother warehouse operations

“Even some of the original labels we put on are still holding strong,” Cruz said.

4Wall also values Metalcraft’s responsive service and support.

“The responsiveness and helpfulness… has been fantastic,” said Cruz. “Any time we need something, the team is quick to help.”

Metalcraft labels have helped 4Wall Entertainment streamline asset tracking while reducing labor and replacement costs. Built to withstand extreme conditions, they deliver reliable, long-term identification – no matter where the job takes them.
